Seven Months

September 28, 2012

Dear Caleb,

Every month I think, "This has been his biggest month developmentally," and then the next month happens and you do even more!  This month, most of your big milestones happened in the span of one week.  You officially learned how to crawl.  You figured out your hands and knees and how they work together so no more scooting around on your stomach.  Once you figured out how to crawl, you crawled right over the couch and pulled yourself up!  Now we are constantly on our guard watching you not only crawl around, but making sure you don't fall down once you've pulled yourself up on something.  That same week you got both of your upper middle teeth, ate cheese for the first time, started making sounds not just cooing, and you had your first blood-drawing accident.  You faced planted into the bathroom floor, right onto your brand new teeth.  There was a lot of blood, but thankfully it wasn't a major incident.....though you didn't appreciate me shoving a cold paper towel into your mouth to stop the bleeding.

A few more accomplishments and some observations over the past month: you figured out your walker and can now motor around the kitchen like a pro, you can walk around the coffee table and couch once you pull yourself up, you were able to go from crawling to a sitting position but only because Leia backed you into it.  You love to look at pictures!  Your favorites are ones of yourself (vain little boy) but any picture will do.  You know where to look as soon as you go into the kitchen and you just giggle and laugh at them.  Whenever you are fussy, we just take you outside.  Something about being outdoors calms you down instantly.  You are such a nosy boy and there is so much to see and hear outside.  You can play the "How Big is Caleb game" where we say "How big is Caleb?" and you raise both of your arms.  It didn't take you long to learn how to do that.  You also know the names of the pets in our house.  If ask you where Leia is, you immediately look to the floor to try and find her. Not only do you know their names, but you love to watch them and chase them.  You haven't caught them yet, but it won't be long.  They make you laugh and smile anytime you see them.

Your development has been like a snowball rolling down a hill.  It starts off small and gets bigger and bigger!  You hit more and more milestones every month!  Your little personality is starting to come through and I love trying to figure out who you take after.

You have a busy month coming up!  Not only will you do a lot developmentally I'm sure, but we have a lot of trips planned this month so it will be fun to take you along on all of them and show you off to friends and family.  I'm looking forward to the fall and all the fun times it holds for you and us as a family!!

Love,
Mommy
