Nine Months

January 22, 2015

Dear Evelyn,

Happy New Year and happy nine months!  This seems to be a big milestone in babies lives, though I'm not sure why.  Maybe because you are 3/4 of a year old, or because you finally have a dr appt where you get all of your stats.  We definitely had a lot more happen this month than last so maybe that's the reason.  Either way, there is a lot to write about to let's get started!

First things first, we celebrated your first Christmas!  It definitely wasn't what we were expecting it to be, but we had a good time nonetheless.  We spent 23-24 at Grandma and Grandpa's house along with Great Grandma and Memmaw.  You enjoyed ripping the paper off the presents and watching all of the activity around you.  You got some books, clothes and toys.  We had a lot of fun celebrating with them!  After we left there we headed to Grand Dad and GiGi's house and spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with them, Aunt Ashley and Papa John.  I think you slept for most of the gift opening time, but you did enjoy playing in the pile of wrapping paper.  Though elements of your first Christmas were sad because mommom wasn't there with us, we had a great time celebrating with you!

Like I said earlier, you have accomplished a lot this past month!  You are crawling and pulling yourself up all the time now.  You just recently started crawling on your hands and knees instead of army crawling.  You are very good at it now and are pretty fast too. And if there is something that you can pull yourself up on, you will, regardless of whether it's sturdy or not.  You've fallen a few times because whatever you tried to use to pull up fell right over.  You are also able to sit down once you've stood up and can go from a crawling position to a sitting position.  Basically, all you have left to do is walk!

A few other highlights this month; you started dancing when music is on.  It's very brief, but it's adorable.  If you are standing, you'll bend your knees a few times to bounce up and down.  Then you smile a big smile.  You also started waving, but only to papa John.  You won't wave to anyone else, but if he raises his hand to you, you'll raise yours right back.  You have become very attached to daddy this month.  I have been laid up most of the month because of back problems so daddy has been taking care of you most days and you therefore have become quite the daddy's girl.  If someone else is holding you and he walks in the room, you make it known that you'd rather be held by him.

We go in for your 9 month well visit in a few days and I'm excited to see how much you've grown in the past three months.

Love,
Mommy
