Dear Caleb,
Happy four months! Even though you are only four months old, you don't really look like it. You look more like a 6 month old. We had your doctor visit today and you were 15lbs 7oz and a little over 26 inches long. The doctor was very pleased with your progress, both physically and developmentally. You also had your second round of vaccines today. You did so good! Of course you cried when then first stuck you, but it only lasted about 5 minutes and then you were fine. And so far they haven't bothered you today! I'm hoping all of your shots go like this!!
You started grabbing for things this month and are getting very good at it. Everything you grab goes straight to your mouth :) Right now your favorite thing to chew on is the pacifier ribbon that clips onto your shirts. You are so close to rolling over from your back to your stomach. You can get everything over except your shoulder. That always gets in the way. I think before the end of next month you'll have figured it out.
You started consistently sleeping 10 hours at night, sometimes 12. It makes mommy and daddy very happy! You are a pretty good napper in the mornings too, sometimes sleeping 3 hours just an hour after you wake up. It definitely helps mommy get things done around the house! We figured out that you are also a power napper in the afternoons. If you get just a few minutes of sleep, you are good to go for at least 2 hours. We have to watch when you sleep in the evenings so that you go to bed at the right time. You may look like your daddy, but you definitely get your sleep habits from me!
You've had a few other milestones this month. You spent your first Sunday in the nursery at church which went very well! You are becoming more and more vocal; talking, complaining, grunting. We stopped swaddling you at night and put you in a sleep sack instead which you like a lot better! You finally figured out your thumb and can find it to calm yourself down. You still don't know what to do with the other four fingers, but at least you have your thumb in your mouth. You are starting to mimic people.....mostly when they stick their tongue out at you. You try very hard to stick yours out as well.
As I am tying this all out I realized that the fourth month was a busy one for you! You accomplished a lot! You are just growing up so fast, it's hard to believe it's been four months already. Next month will be a lot of fun too as you will be taking your first beach trip! I'm sure we'll have a lot to write about that!
Love you lots little man!
Mommy
