New Car
In looking back through my posts I realized that I never posted about the new car we got after I wrecked the Mazda. So here's the story:
Searching for a new car can be a lot of fun, but not when you have to make a rush decision. I always thought the next time we looked for a car, it would be a leisurely search. One where we could take our time and make sure we got a good car at a good deal. Boy was I wrong! Luckily, we didn't have to get a car right away, but we couldn't wait too long.
I got into the wreck on Friday and immediately the next morning Ben was on the internet looking up cars. First thing we had to do was decide what kind of car we wanted. We knew we wanted another SUV; it's much easier to get Caleb in and out of in his car seat, it has lots of extra room for when we travel, and I just like a bigger car. After looking at lots of different options, we settled on the Honda Pilot. One of the features that drew us to that car is it's 3rd row seating option. If needed, we can seat 8 people in the Pilot. That was huge for us, mainly because when driving around town with friends or family, we won't have to take two cars. Also, when on vacation, we can take one car to drive around in. Another great feature is the rear air conditioner. Here in the Columbia, it's brutally hot in the summer and the car seat that Caleb rides in is very warm; he's usually sweaty when we pull him out of it. The Pilot has a rear air condition that sit in a console between the driver and passenger seats and blows straight back. This was a big deal for me because I always hated how hot he got sitting in that car seat. Lastly, we are big fans of Honda. They keep their value and can last a long time. You might pay a bit more for them up front, but its totally worth it in the long run.
We decided to buy our car from CarMax. First because in comparing prices between them and a dealership on the Honda Pilot, we found they were pretty comparable. Secondly, we have a friend that works at CarMax and we really wanted to buy a car from him since we knew he's be honest with us and help us make the right decision.
So, after we decided on the type of car and where to buy it, Ben started looking at CarMax dealerships around the states. You can transfer any car from any CarMax for a small fee so we could find one in PA and have it sent down here. We had been praying for a good deal on a car and the Lord really provided for us. A great car came into the Columbia CarMax the weekend after the wreck. It was exactly what we were looking for. It had great mileage, a great price, was in great shape, and was a good color (not that that's really important, but it helps :D ). We went and saw Nathan at CarMax on Monday and test drove the car. We took the next two days just thinking and praying about it and we felt that this was the car for us. We went in again on Thursday and purchased it.
It was so cool to see how the Lord provided for us in this situation. He knew what we needed and also what we wanted and He showed us the path to take.
So that's our new car story. I love driving the Pilot and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an SUV.
