Dear Caleb,
Happy Birthday!! I am writing this a little late because it has been busy in our household lately! Not only did we have your birthday party, we had friends from out of town come for the weekend and we decided to try and sell our house so we have spent a lot of time getting it ready to show. Because of that, I am just now getting to your 12 month letter.
We had so much fun celebrating your first birthday! We had your party on the 2nd of March and some very special friends were in town for it! Bob and Deb, Ray, Sara and Lilly, and Dave and Leslie came down for the weekend. They were just coming for a visit, but when we found out they were coming, we decided to have your birthday party then so they could attend. It was a sock monkey themed party and we had it at aunt Ashley's house. You ate your first cupcake, and though you were a bit timid at first, you eventually dived right in and ate the whole thing. You had a pretty funny reaction to the sugar, screaming at everything and being a bit hyper so you wont be getting that much sugar again for a while :) It was great to celebrate with friends and family and though you won't remember it, we certainly will!
This last month has been full of milestones! You learned two new signs, again and please, which you now say all the time! You gave a high five to daddy, though you won't do it with anyone else yet. You started mimicking a lot this month. The first thing you mimicked was daddy making a monkey sound. On of your books has a monkey in it and daddy always makes the sound, and this month you did too! Sometimes you'll do it if we ask you to, but you have to be in the right mood :) You also like to make an "indian" sound with your mouth by hitting your open mouth with your palm. It's a lot of fun to watch. We realized you knew what dancing was this month when we saw you moving to some music from one of your toys. If we ask you to dance, you'll usually wave your hands around in the air. Sometimes you'll bend your knees and go up and down. It's actually quite funny to watch. You are now exclusively on whole milk! Not so much a big milestone for you, but definitely for me!!
You had your third trip to Orland this month too. Too bad you can't remember all of them because you would realize you are one lucky kid! Mommom and Papa John were so happy to see you! We spend 4 days there and your favorite thing to do at their house was play with all of Mommom's decorative carnival rides. You would walk up to them, sign please, and we would turn on the music and watch them move. You loved it!! We usually had to cut you off because if we didn't, I think you'd watch them 24/7. Of course, we went to Disney again. This trip we could tell you were a lot more into your surroundings. Not that you knew you were at Disney, but you loved watching all of the people and the characters. We watched a parade and you couldn't take your eyes off of the characters dancing. I am really excited for the day when we can take you and you understand and appreciate where you are.
It's been quite a year! I'm amazed at how much you've changed; the skills you've developed, the things you now understand. You are growing up so fast, and I'm excited to see what the next months and years have in store for us! Who knows what I'll be writing when you are 18 months! I'm sure it will be quite the list of things you've accomplished! We love you so much and are so thankful to have you as our little boy.
Love,
Mommy
