Six Months

October 22, 2014

Dear Evelyn,

Half a year already!!  Your letter is a bit late this month because we have had a lot going on!  It's been quite a busy past month, filled with trips and developments.  We were busy every weekend in October either going places or people coming to visit us.  First up was a trip to a beach house here in SC with Grand Dad, GiGi, aunt Ashley, and Web.  We had a nice relaxing weekend.  It was too cold to go swimming in the ocean, but we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless.  The next weekend the May's stopped by on their way to Disney World.  Though they were only here one night, we had a great time hanging out.  You loved watching all of the kids play in the back yard, especially Todd who is closer to your size than Caleb or Lilly.  After that weekend, we left for 10 days in Lancaster!  Daddy had a wedding in New York that he went up for, and we decided to make a big trip out of it.  We had lots of fun playing with Nanny, Pap, Sara, Lilly and Todd.  On Sunday night all of the crew came to Nanny and Pap's house and we enjoyed catching up, watching the kids play in the garage, and eating some yummy food!  The next week we stayed at the farmhouse and went to Chocolate World, Roots, a petting zoo, Corn Cob Acres, and Lilly and Todd's house.  We also were able to spend time with family who came in from the west coast. Your great-great-aunt Sue, her husband Chicco, her daughter Amber, her son Chris and Chris' wife Kelly and their two kids Will and Ellie.  We tried figuring out exactly what type of cousins you guys all are, but gave up after a while because it got way too complicated.  On Friday we went to Central Market with Sue and Kelly and then left from there to go to the beach for the weekend.  Ocean City was quite different this time of year than it was in July.  Though there were still a lot of people around on Saturday, it still felt like a bit of a ghost town on Friday night.  We left on Sunday to come home and after a 10 hour drive, we finally made it.  Both you and Caleb did well on the ride home!  This coming weekend we will be going to Florida to see Mommom and Pappa John and also spend a day in Disney World!  This will be your first trip and though you won't care at all, I'm excited to take you.

As for developmental milestones, you had a few this month.  The main one being you are sitting up now!  You still fall over if you lean too far one way, but your balance has greatly improved and you can catch yourself if you start to tilt.  We can leave you on the floor and put the boppy around you and will sit there and play.  You have also just begun to scoot on the floor.  You've only done it a few times, but if there is something you really really want, you can get to it.  There just isn't a lot of things you really really want yet :)  You are usually content to sit or lay on the floor and watch what is happening around you.  But I keep trying to put things in front of you to get you to move.  You are loving solid foods!  We usually have to stop you at dinner because you would just keep eating and eating!  Starting next month we'll let you eat till your heart's content, but not yet.  Everything you have tried, you have liked.  I'm actually looking forward to letting you try new foods!  You've been eating the same 5 foods for two months now.

We are coming up on my favorite time of year and I'm looking forward to celebrating your first Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Love,
Mommy
